ABOUT SPUDD

Mark “Spudd” Carroll (born 26 February 1967) is a legendary Australian rugby league enforcer who dominated the front row through the 1980s and 1990s. This powerhouse prop smashed through defences representing the Penrith Panthers, South Sydney Rabbitohs, and became an absolute legend at the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles.

Spudd was the backbone of Manly’s unstoppable forward pack in the mid-90s, helping deliver their 1996 premiership triumph. Known for his ferocious tackling style and epic clashes with rival forwards like Paul Harragon, Carroll brought that front-row flavour every single game.

On the representative stage, Spudd played for New South Wales in 12 State of Origin clashes and earned 7 caps for the Australian Kangaroos, including tours to England.

After hanging up his boots in 1999, Spudd moved into media, personal training, and public speaking, often sharing colourful stories from his career. Spudd’s larger-than-life personality and that trademark nickname continue to be celebrated – now immortalised in Spudd Wiser Premium Ale, a crisp Australian brew that delivers the same front-row power that made him a legend!
